Sartorial Synergy: Capitol Couture Returns

Typically at the beginning of an issue of Capitol Couture, you will find a lighthearted preview and a meaningful commentary from the mind that shaped the issue, molding it into the final product you see here.  But there’s more than one mind at work at Capitol Couture, and in the spirit of President Snow’s “One Panem” initiative we have reached out to reinforce our connections with the foundation of this magazine: our staff.

Each member of the Capitol Couture team brings their unique experience and insight to every page we construct. Focusing on the collaborative nature of life, art, and fashion, this installment of Capitol Couture will highlight the success we can achieve through working together. This being said, the whole staff at Capitol Couture, would like to collectively welcome you to our special edition issue.

We will visit Peeta Mellark and Johanna Mason, whose united skills have delivered them from yet another arena. We will introduce you to the One Panem initiative and the Capitol Ministry of Information- a fresh government branch with a highly fashionable leader, dedicated to the unification of our country and all its myriad strengths. We will spotlight the selfless, charitable members of the Capitol, donating their time and effort to give back to the people of Panem. And naturally, we will bring you the latest, hottest fashion, featuring designers creating together for the most fabulous future imaginable.

As always, dear readers, we encourage you to be relevant. Be chic. Be collaborative. Be Capitol.

Yours,

The Staff of Capitol Couture

Wait a minute…

I have been laughing at this for hours now…

So, true story. The woman in this photo is Kendra Kaplan. Her husband was in Iraq for twelve months but the military has this thing called leave. Some of us may recognize the concept from old episodes of Star Trek. In this photo she is five months pregnant after conceiving her second child during her husband’s leave. That envelope in her hand is the ultrasound results. She waited for him to come home to find out if it was a girl or a boy.
There’s been several articles about it.The photo resulted in this woman receiving so much hate mail, from both internet cut-ups and the actual media, that she even took a paternity test and provided proof of her husband’s leave schedule. Her real life friends have stopped talking to her over these rumors.
Oh, and by the way, that baby bump is a two year old by now. People are still shitting on this woman over a nasty internet meme two years later.
So in short, you’re mocking a faithful wife for something that isn’t any of our damn business anyway and has long since been disproven.
Good job Internet.

Thank you for this!

Finally a rebloggable version of this idiotic post.

Why The Hunger Games: Mockingjay needs to tell Peeta’s tale

Finally an article from someone actually read the whole book series!

Yes… I like that Peeta represents a lot of men. We live in a world that teaches/ place male’s in a category you are suppose to be rough beat them up / you are this big bad ass show the world how stoic you are.. Just like us women they all have different strengths. What my strength is may not be some else’s and what is some else’s strength may not be mine. Should we call each other weak? I don’t care to say yes.. Being someone who was bullied as a child and lived in a house with a tyrannical father. I became introverted and chose to still be kind as I watched the world of mean and nice people. Flash forward. I have a 6 yr old male child who I am raising on my own. I understand why there should be a male and female raising a child. A male cannot teach the female what it is to female nor can the female teach the male what it is to be a male. (don’t misunderstood my statement there) but we parents and single parents do our best and pray for the best.. Anyway. I am taught that the male and female are equals and that the only difference is the male has the ability to have a little more physically stronger than the female but that is it!  That turned o a light and opened my mind around this male vs female/female vs male BS.. We all  as human beings have different qualities and one is no better than the other. So that woman who chose that man who can go out in the world to work along with the demons out there as well he cooks and cleans better than herself is not weak, meek nor being a damsel She is blessed. That man who has a woman who can fix/ repair a car or things around the house better than he can. He is blssed and not weak. So for those who say the Peeta’s in this world are meek or sissies. You are missing out. The Peeta’s who use common sense and speech are the ones who speak for your rights to be yourself and to be free. They work to stop wars stop fights in the streets, to stop that child from being murdered , that woman’s right to walk down the street without harm, they are the voice of reason when a person talks of ending it all, they are the ones who keep it together when others can’t, they will raise a fist when need be, not because they want to show off .. There are many many beautiful things about people like Peeta and the lives they have survived through and not survived.

That is my statement as to why I like Peeta and the Peeta’s of this world.. I had the most beautiful mother who was like Peeta, one of my favorite brothers and my ex husband who could not escape the torture of being in the Vietnam war. Peeta and Katniss have a beautiful interesting story to be told pre and post games..

I am not going to apologize nor explain to anyone how I raise my son..That is the beauty of being individuals.

I loved this. Someone who knows the value and importance of Peeta’s character. We all hope that Francis felt the same way. I.mean they put more of Effie in MJ and created a new character to interact with Snow. Even though it will kill me I hope we see more of Peeta as a prisoner in the Capitol, Johanna as well. The non readers I believe, need to see what happens to Peeta to get a better understanding. They are not privy to what we know having read the books.

Peeta Mellark: Spirit of Strength

Capitol Couture has been waiting eagerly for the next wave of incredible images of our cherished elite, and here they are! Fresh from the excitement of the most eventful Quarter Quell to date, we are thrilled and honored to present the new Capitol Living Portraits.

As our Quarter Quell victors, Peeta Mellark and Johanna Mason hold the distinct honor of being the first Capitol citizens featured within a Living Portrait.  Peeta stands tall and true in his Living Portrait, his matte leather Unconditional ensemble showcasing a stone-like texture and channeling the victor’s quiet strength, completed by shirt and shoes courtesy of Maison Martin Margiela. The paper collar piece, designed by David Mason, mirrors the sculptural elements in Johanna’s dress and gives a stern ambiance to the baker’s son. With an unprecedented two victories under his belt, Peeta is no longer the boy who bravely faced the 74th Hunger Games, but a true Capitol hero.

Citizens can witness the artist’s hand-selected series of Living Portraits in person at SOCA this summer.
